7. Your content
"Your content" means files you upload (slides, notes, study guides, practice exams, photos, pasted text), the Prof. Hints and notes you type, and your answers and reports.
You keep it. You (or whoever owns it, such as your instructor or a publisher) keep every right in your content. We don't claim ownership of anything you upload or type.
You promise you're allowed to upload it: you have the right to use it for your own study, for example because your instructor gave it to your class, you made it yourself, or you have permission. Don't upload other people's personal information beyond what's in normal course materials.
The only permission you give us: a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, copy, read and process your content (including by sending it to the AI service that reads it for us) only to provide the app to you: reading your files, ranking topics, writing your practice questions and cards, and keeping your account working. This permission:
- doesn't let us show your files or their text to anyone else, publish them, sell them, or use them to train AI models;
- covers the topic-level facts described in the Privacy Policy (like which topics an exam covered), which may be combined with other students' facts, never a file or its text. You can turn that off on the Account page;
- ends when you delete the content or your account. Two exceptions: a copy can stay in a backup until that backup is deleted (we're still setting how long backups are kept, and the Privacy Policy will say), and some records are kept longer where the law requires (for example records of a copyright notice).
Things we make for you (practice questions, flashcards, summaries, rankings) are for your own study. You may use them for that and keep them. Don't sell them or post them as exam content.
We may remove content or limit an account if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law, and we'll tell you in the app when we do.
